About this site.
Many of the resources here are pulled from the website the
government published for that purpose. Many of the links will take you to the Federal
Trade Commission website, or other official government websites. All original content should be considered opinion. The purpose of this
site is to promote the National No Call Registry in an effort to preserve personal
American rights by demonstrating that the public is not only interested but involved.
When free time gets hard to come by it becomes precious. Busy people
cherish time that is their own. This site was opened on a Saturday night. That Saturday
morning began with a rude intrusion from a pesky telemarketer that would not compromise
the tone of the conversation. Every question or statement designed to lead with an obvious
unwillingness to hear what I, their customer(?) had to say. This phone call typical and
only one of many.
Getting on the list will not stop all unsolicited calls. People you
have accounts with still have the right to call even if only to try to sell you something.
Government facilities and surveyors are still permitted to contact you. Fireman's Fund,
Police Athletic League, the Census Bureau, etc.
.I was looking for someplace on the internet to register
and realized I wanted to do more than just register. The registry came to be because
people were getting outraged about the calls to begin with. It should be illegal to have
teams of people cold calling strangers one after one, day after day, with the intent of
bullying perspective customers to the point of having to hang up on them to get rid of
them. I'm particularly passionate about this when it comes to our nations elderly. (If you
have an older relative that might be taken advantage of, you can get their number on the
registry.) The registry, in my opinion, is a compromise instead of a law. Maybe someday if
the registry grows big enough, they might make a real law instead of just a list.
